Freddie Mercury celebrated his 41st birthday in September 1987 at Pikes with over 500 guests, 350 bottles of Moët, and a cake shaped like the Sagrada Familia. Grace Jones was his companion for the event. In 1983, Wham! filmed their "Club Tropicana" music video by the iconic poolside. Pikes is not merely a club; it is a legendary 15th-century Ibizan finca.
Tony Pike, originally from Australia, acquired the Ca'n Pep Toniet finca in 1978 and transformed it into a hotel by 1980. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, it became a favored sanctuary for musicians and hedonists. Boy George famously referred to Pike as "the Hugh Hefner of Ibiza." Tony Pike passed away in 2019. In 2008, Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle, the masterminds behind Manumission and founders of Ibiza Rocks, purchased the property. They relaunched it in 2011 as Pikes Ibiza under the Ibiza Rocks Group (IRG) banner.
Three distinct areas define the Pikes experience: Club Tropicana, situated by the Wham! pool; Plaza Mayor, serving as the social hub; and Freddies, the intimate disco housed within Mercury's former suite, complete with a mirror ball and immersive sound. The 2026 season (April 10–October 31) features Pikes House Party every Saturday, Back to Mine and Bathtub Club on Thursdays, and unique resident sessions on Mondays and Sundays. Annually on September 5th, Freddie Rocks hosts a charity tribute to the legendary singer. Pikes Presents extends the brand to 528 Ibiza on Tuesdays, featuring artists like Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, and Bonobo.
Located at Camí de Sa Vorera, s/n, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Pikes is accessible by taxi from San Antonio (10-15 €), with no direct bus service. The venue accommodates 800 people and boasts 26 uniquely themed rooms. Entry is complimentary but strictly via guestlist, which opens two weeks prior on the website. Operating hours are 20:00 to 04:00, with a minimum age of 25 (27 for select events). The dress code is smart casual, prohibiting flip-flops and beachwear. A no-phone policy is enforced during parties. Cocktails start from 12 €.
Pikes is recommended for those already familiar with Ibiza seeking an antithesis to superclubs. Its magic lies in its intimacy and the private party atmosphere where phones are unnecessary. For a larger scale experience without compromising the philosophy, 528 Ibiza offers an outdoor capacity of 6,000 with the same curated talent as McKay. For daytime pool parties, Ibiza Rocks in San Antonio completes the IRG trio.
