About
In the late nineties, Miguel founded Kumharas in San Antonio bay as an explicit alternative to Ibiza's commercial circuit. The proposal: chillout, ethnic, and alternative music in an intimate and eclectic environment built with natural materials and maritime references. Nitin Sawhney, Nightmares on Wax, and the world music collectives that form its sound identity are part of its history, but the list of artists is not the main argument of the place; it is the atmosphere they have built over decades.
The venue organically blends covered and open spaces. The rustic-style outdoor terrace is the social core where the bulk of the public gathers; the chill out area allows for a transition to more contained environments. The dome restaurant has its own rhythm independent of the musical programming. The pirate watchtower bar and the sand stage for outdoor performances are two of the most photographed elements of the space. The inner sanctum functions as a reserved room for moments of greater acoustic intimacy.
From the center of San Antonio, it's a 10-minute taxi ride or a 25-minute walk along the Cala de Bou promenade. The L3 line connects the area with the urban center. Casual dress code, no formal footwear required; it's a space where hippie clothes fit perfectly. Minimum age 18 years. Usual hours from 19:00 to 3:00, with variations according to programming. Google rating: 4.4 stars in 2,368 reviews, with recurrent mentions of the sunset and the quality of the gastronomic offer.
Sunset sessions with fusion bands and artisan markets held during the season define the summer calendar (May to October). There are also downtempo electronic music proposals and live percussion performances that differentiate this space from the EDM of the Platja d'en Bossa area. Arrive at sunset to watch the sun set over San Antonio bay: few free experiences in Ibiza have such visual quality.
